Question: How many fingers are you using on your left hand? Just one? Think of it like this. You could type an essay withe just one finger but it takes ages. Speed typists use all their fingers and guitarists should use all or most if they want to attain any speed. Try asigning one finger to each fret and only move the entire hand when absolutely necessary.
